A third woman has been charged with assaulting Timothy John Constable, the 24-year-old man who was found dead at a house in suburban Christchurch a fortnight ago.
Correna Anne Coombs, a 40-year-old Phillipstown woman, appeared on the charge before Judge Paul Whitehead in Christchurch District Court today and was remanded on bail to September 3.
She is the sixth person charged over the incident which saw police called to the house in Todd Avenue, Bishopdale, where a fight was reported on August 7.
They found Mr Constable dead at the scene. A post mortem showed he died of a stab wound and other injuries.
Three men, including an unemployed 17-year-old named Levi Michael James Coombs, were last week charged with the Mr Constable's murder, after initially facing holding charges of assaulting him.
Two women were also charged last week but they face more serious charges than the one laid against Correna Coombs today.
Coombs faces a charge of assault under the Crimes Act. Chahana Mikena Coombs, aged 20, of Linwood, and Shaharna Margaret Lee Hickey, 22, of Oxford, have both been charged with intentionally causing grievous bodily harm.
Only one of the six people charged remains in custody. Two of the men, including Levi Coombs, were released on bail on Monday.
Apart from the woman charged today, all have been remanded to next Tuesday.
