Sex offender Graham Ashley Robert Palmer has failed in his bid to sue prosecutors and his own lawyer for $10 million.
Palmer, who is serving a term of preventive detention for sex offences against a girl, claimed that crown counsel Philip Hamlin and Morag McDowell and defence lawyer Frank Hogan had conspired to pervert the course of justice by withholding evidence and allowing perjured evidence at his trial.
Justice Peter Salmon said that there was no factual basis for the serious allegations.
Palmer's claim constituted a collateral attack on the jury's verdict and was an abuse of process, Justice Salmon said.
He struck out the claims against the crown lawyers and entered summary judgment for Mr Hogan against Palmer.
David Jones, appearing for the crown lawyers in the High Court at Auckland, had told the judge Palmer's case was untenable.
Costs were awarded against Palmer.
In 1988, Palmer was jailed for five years and eight months after duping the IRD out of $2.6 million in the country's first GST fraud.
