A series of concerning incidents in Hastings over the weekend are being investigated by police - including an attack on a young man by three people who were riding horseback.
Police say the offenders, who are described as in their early teens and wearing black and red bandanas, are accused of initially using one of the horses to kick the 19-year-old who was with his eight-year-old cousin behind a Flaxmere library yesterday morning.
Police say they then climbed off the horses and assaulted the young man before taking his property.
In a separate incident last night, two men were attacked by a large group of youths on Heretaunga Street who were throwing bottles - causing both victims to be hospitalised.
Eight young people were detained and are expected to face charges in the Youth Court.
