A man has been rescued by helicopter after his float plane crashed in the Marlborough Sounds this evening.
The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter airlifted the 55-year-old Picton man to Nelson Hospital around 6pm.
He crashed on landing near Ketu Bay.
A local water taxi crew at the scene helped get the man to the waiting helicopter.
The man was assessed and treated by an on-board paramedic before being airlifted to Nelson Hospital in a serious condition.
