CAMBRIDGE - Just two expectant mothers are left in a radio station promotion to find the first baby of the new millennium.
Cambridge couple Ann Huston and Mark Brockelsby are awaiting the arrival of a boy due tomorrow - a brother for 16-month-old Nick, half-sister Jessie, 7, and half-brother Sam, 10.
In Auckland, Louise and Malcolm Kelleway are expecting a brother or sister for India on Saturday.
Only seven of the 100 couples hosted by 91ZM for a love-making session on April 9 ended up conceiving a baby in time for New Year's Eve.
Five of the babies have been born this month - the latest arriving on Monday - and two have been named in honour of ZM, Zoe Mitchell and Zoe Michelle Pine.
"You feel like you've got seven babies," joked station manager Grant Hislop.
"They've all been ringing in as they've come. It's been weird, like an extended family."
Ms Huston, 36, said her pregnancy, her second, had been long and uncomfortable as a pinched nerve made it difficult for her to move.
"It seems like 18 months rather than nine," she said.
Partner Mr Brockelsby, 42, said they had been more interested in the free hotel room and never thought they would make it this far, especially as Ms Huston was still breastfeeding at the time of conception.
Baby son Nick accompanied them to the hotel in April.
The couple have made no New Year's resolutions other than the hope that their newborn child will be healthy.
Mr Brockelsby said it was important to keep the birth in perspective.
"If the timing of the baby becomes more important than the baby itself, then you've lost it."
The station has showered the seven couples with practical baby gifts and the family whose child is born closest to the turn of the century will receive a video camera.
