A mother and daughter have been winched out of the bush after they became tired while tramping in the Rotoma Forest.
The 40-year-old mother and her 14-year-old daughter were initially found by Whakatane Landsar crews about 3am today and they tried to walk them out. However, they decided to wait until first and use the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter to winch them out at 6am.
The pair were then flown to Kawerau where they were met police and assessed by St John Ambulance crews.
