A man has not been seen for more than 15 hours after he went for a walk at a Northland bay.
A police spokeswoman said this morning the man did not return from a walk around the rocks at Otamure Bay in Whananaki yesterday afternoon.
Police were called just after 8.30pm and the Coastguard was notified at 9pm.
The area has poor cellphone and radio reception.
