Labradors graduate for biosecurity protection

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has the first four labradors from a new MPI breeding programme graduate from the training programme on 20 July. It is the first time that MPI has used labradors for biosecurity protection. The new detector dogs will demonstrate their skills at finding goods carried by passengers and inside mail that pose a biosecurity risk to New Zealand. MPI expects to see new 11 dogs graduate from training this year - part of a move to bolster New Zealand's biosecurity defences.
