Kylie Jones' family have pledged to hound the Government to fix problems with sentencing and parole which they believe were partly to blame for her murder.
Greg Stenbeck, father of Kylie's fiancaacé, Aaron, hit out last night at the Judiciary, saying it had failed Ms Jones. He said liability for murders should fall on the Government if it did not take "clear and immediate action" to remedy problems with sentencing and parole.
"[Kylie's father] Barry Jones and I have pledged to each other that we will pursue this."
"We want to take [Justice Minister Phil] Goff on upfront to make sure he does something about it."
The 23-year-old journalist was stabbed to death in a Glen Innes reserve on June 6 by convicted rapist Taffy Hotene, who had been released from prison by a parole board just two months earlier.
Mr Stenbeck was critical of Justice Paul Neazor's decision in 1992 not to impose a sentence of preventive detention after Hotene attacked three women in Wanganui.
Mr Stenbeck said the parole board, chaired by Justice Richard Heron, had also let Ms Jones down.
