KEY POINTS:
Are there any plans to address the massive queue each morning where the Northwestern Motorway feeds on to the Southern? The lane alignment looks suspiciously final. Callum Smellie, Auckland.
Not quite final, fortunately. Major new layouts such as motorway-to-motorway links are given a settling-in time, while motorists adjust. Generally things work well, but this one just doesn't. Transit accepts this, and has come up with a solution which it hopes will fix the problem. It plans to put it in place early next month. If it does work, the new road-markings and signage will become permanent.

Re the Northwestern Motorway exit at Wellesley St/Hospital and University. At rush hour, the right-turning queue at the T-junction stretches back to the motorway. If the arrows at the junction allowed the traffic in the left-hand lane to turn either way - and they could because there are two lanes around the corner - the queues would be much reduced. Is this a possibility? Ngaire Bates, Mt Albert.
Transit will take a look. If it's safe and there is enough room for a double right-hand turn, it will be done. Good work, Ngaire.

Is there ever going to be a southbound motorway onramp at Manurewa? Or a northbound offramp, for that matter? Currently we have to go all round the Takanini houses to get on or off. Naomi Vause, Manurewa.
Not any time soon. Transit is investigating new ramps at Manurewa as part of a very long-term strategy for the Southern Motorway, but new ramps here are not in the current 10-year plan. The new Manukau Harbour crossing and extending State Highway 20 take priority.

I have recently seen some unauthentic-looking No Parking signs. They show a No Stopping symbol with the words Authorised Parking underneath, and are made from some sort of plastic and taped over the original council sign. Do I have to heed them? I've seen them in Sarsfield St next to Pt Erin Park, and in Carlton Gore Rd. Russell Downey, Auckland.
Woops. These are temporary signs put up for a specific event and someone has forgotten to take them down. The council is taking steps to make sure that in future all such temporary signage is removed when it's no longer needed.
