KEY POINTS:
Any news of roading improvements to be made around the Mt Wellington quarry? Lunn Ave is a nightmare at the best of times, without thousands more cars around there. Roshan Robinson, Auckland.
And there will be thousands more cars, with 2500 homes in the quarry within the next five years for an estimated 8000 people, a new 29-court complex for Auckland Netball, expansion of Auckland University's Tamaki campus as well as businesses and Sylvia Park shopping. Auckland City consulted the people in 2005, and their preferred option was for a quarry link road from a new roundabout at the junction of Merton and College Rds. Construction is scheduled to start this year.
The attractive planting on the roundabout at the intersection of St Johns and College Rds has grown so tall that it is now difficult to see oncoming traffic when turning right from College into St Johns. Can something be done please? Jane Turner, Kohimarama.
The large flaxes will soon be removed and replaced with low-growing plants. It'll take some time to do this safely, so the council would appreciate a little patience from the motoring public.
Heading north on Albert St, the no-right-turn sign at Wyndham St has disappeared but the road markings indicating straight ahead only haven't changed. What's going on? Has the sign been nicked? Paul Estcourt, Torbay.
Well, it's certainly disappeared, which the council was not aware of. It will be replaced in the next fortnight.
