At least three yellow-eyed penguins have been attacked by dogs on the Otago Peninsula in recent weeks.
One bird had to be destroyed.
Department of Conservation spokesman Dean Nelson said the surviving birds had puncture wounds on their backs and legs that were consistent with a dog attack.
