KEY POINTS:
A man and a woman are in Christchurch Hospital today after an accident on the Port Hills above Christchurch early this morning.
Christchurch police said today that the accident happened about 9.30am when a vehicle went off the Summit Road about 600m west of Evans Pass.
The vehicle had fallen about 100m into a gully.
Emergency services including a helicopter rescued the couple, police said. The woman was airlifted to Christchurch hospital and the man taken by road. Both are in stable conditions.
