Neither age nor recession can stop Hamilton's Bobbie Jarvis, who is possibly New Zealand's oldest fulltime real estate agent.
Mrs Jarvis started work at what is now Ray White Real Estate when she was 53, after her husband retired because of heart problems.
More than a quarter of a century later, she is still regularly her firm's top or second-best agent - and loving it.
"I tell you what, I have a lot of fun doing this job," she said yesterday.
"I believe your attitude to life is what keeps you working. There are many people who still work at my age. They may not work 40 to 60 hours a week as I do, but they still work. It's their attitude to work."
Times are tougher in the recession, she conceded.
"It's jolly hard, but you just have to grit your teeth and think of England. You just have to work a bit smarter.
"It's not hard physical work - a lot of it is on the phone, and I'm in my car a lot of the time. I'm just out at the moment doing signs and going to see a couple of people."
She has nothing against people who choose to retire earlier and perhaps travel. It's just not her thing.
"It's their call if they want to retire, as boring as hell as it might be," she said.
"You can only do so many world trips. "I don't knock that at all. We have skied in Europe and taken three months off and that's been wonderful. I would do it again, but not all the time."
Last year she celebrated her 80th birthday with "a big birthday bash".
"It was a huge fun event," she said.
"Afterwards I heard that one or two of the agents who perhaps don't know me very well were derogatory about the fact I'm still working at this age and said I should give up.
"To be quite honest, I've never given it much thought."
