This is a registration day in conjunction with the Riders Trophy tournament and features a major mystery weight prize with the fish species and weight chosen by event sponsor, Mike Rider. There will be a barbecue along with prizegiving at the club caravan.
In other recent news, the club held its final field day of 2012 where the final outcome did not alter the points board. The winners for the fishing year were, King: Milton Arnold; Queen: Jo Arthur, Junior: Jayden Rogers.
Rogers noted rollercoaster sea conditions greeted members at the popular Picnic Fieldday competition, which concluded the 2012 calendar year (which previously used to finish in July).
The 34 club members fishing could only manage to catch three snapper, three trevally and four kahawai between them.
All the top place getters won Christmas hams and were as follows.
Heaviest snapper: Steve Maisey 1.14kg (just heading off Ken Tyler's 1.13kg fish); heaviest trevally: junior Aleesha Rogers 3.54kg, heaviest kahawai: Rod Alan 1.44kg. Also notable, Judy Tyler 2.14kg trevally, Dave Harrison 1.01kg snapper, M Arnold 1.95kg trevally.
Other winners were, drawn prizes: Dave Lloyd, Leon O'Connor, Amber Rogers; haggle, 1.10kg kahawai: K Tyler 1.08kg; raffles: J Rogers, Gloria Larkins.
Prizegiving was held at the weigh in venue where a big marquee was erected and a split roast mutton served with roast vegetables and salads was enjoyed by members, while entertainment was provided by the Hiwi the Kiwi show promoting water safety and sustainable fishing.
