The accident area was to the south of the Mangamuka Gorge, which re-opened to the public on Friday, after a two-and-a-half-year closure, caused by the impact of bad weather.
Also, Hato Hone St John confirmed it had attended at least five other vehicle incidents since last Friday.
At about 3.10pm on Friday, two ambulances, a rapid response unit, and an operations manager responded to a collision in Tikipunga, Whangārei.
Two patients, one in a serious condition and one in a critical condition, were transported to Northland Base Hospital.
At about 3.30pm on Friday,one ambulance responded to a motor vehicle incident on SH1 at Prescott Rd, Ruakaka.
Two patients, each in moderate conditions, were treated at the scene.
Later that evening - at about 7.10pm - one ambulance went to a collision on Boundary Rd, Tikipunga, where a patient in moderate condition was transported to Northland Base Hospital. Another patient in a minor condition was assessed and treated at the scene.
On Sunday at about 4.15pm, there was a single-vehicle crash, involving a motorbike, near Clemo Road and Ngunguru Road, Kiripaka. St John said one patient in a minor condition was treated at the scene.
