PILING UP: Constable Jared Vivian recording details of property, some known to have been stolen, some believed to have been stolen, that was seized at Ahipara yesterday.

Police seized what they believed to be a substantial haul of stolen property from a house at Ahipara yesterday, spreading it out on the lawn and painstakingly recording it in detail.

Some of the property had been identified as stolen, in at least one case from a nearby residential address, including alcohol, a television set and frozen mutton.

Much of what was removed had still to be confirmed as stolen, however. That list included tools, a tent, an air rifle and a pump action .22 rifle, a 1000-litre plastic tank, a hand trolley, a lawn mower, a water blaster, a compressor and a welder.

One surfboard was known to have been stolen and a second was on the suspected list.

No arrests had been made as of edition time yesterday afternoon, but a police spokesman said a male resident at the address was assisting with the inquiry.
