The Transformers Youth Group are enjoying their first season in the Kaitaia Touch Module, which kicked off on the Kaitaia College top fields last Tuesday afternoon.
The side had a tough opening round, the first game in the social grade pitting them put against a slick Broadwood unit, which eventually saw the defending champions running away with the result.
Transformers spokesperson Shelley Sullivan said the team was made up of players representing the Virtue Christian Centre youth group.
"They are a great group of young people and always display a great attitude on and off the field. They are not winning, but they are having fun," she said laughing, noting it was everyone's first time playing touch.
The side's previous outing together saw them compete in Mangonui netball's annual Tuatua Tournament recently, where they won the Best Dressed Team Award.
