Bay of Islands Netball Centre (BOINC) teams vied for positioning on the final grading round in Kaikohe on Saturday, knowing this was their last chance to move up and/or keep themselves from being relegated.
Among the top results, newcomers Moerewa Tigers secured their position at the top of the premier grade by taking a close win over Taiamai Black 28-26. In the A-grade, Okaihau College A did well in the early stages managing to keep in touch with United Wahine, the score being tied 6-all at the close of the first quarter. before more experienced United Wahine built on their lead to ending up with a comfortable win by 32 points to 25.
Elsewhere, Taiamai Red put in two of the most convincing performances of the day against Datz Us and Hokianga Sports Club A, winning both by more than 20-point margins.
Court pressure made it hard for both of Taiamai's opponents to find any flow through the court and this formed the foundation of both wins.
The afternoon also saw the final trial for BOINC rep teams, the Year 7 and 9s, with both being formally named this week; with the U15s and 17s selections still due to be named following the final trial on May 10 due to clashes with kapa haka for secondary schools.
