Landon Matthews led almost from the start, and on Saturday was crowned Kaitaia's Daffodil Day baby 2012.
Landon won with ease, garnering $1442, followed in Section 1 by Chase Brown ($405) and Narrah Hughes ($320). The winner in Section 2 was Cruize McRoy-Waddington ($243).
The competition, which this year raised $3986, was founded and has traditionally been organised by National Bank staff in Kaitaia, but professional duties took precedence this year and the Kaitaia Photo Centre stepped into the breach, although bank staff remained heavily involved in Daffodil Day fundraising for the the Cancer Society in Kaitaia.
"This is a fantastic result in hard times," bank representative Jo Buckingham said at Saturday's prize-giving, "and we had a great street collection on Friday too."
