The kids at Pamapuria School are well versed in the art of welcoming visitors, and they were at their very best when a Cabinet Minister dropped in last week.

Social Development Minister Paula Bennett stopped by on her way to a series of meetings in Kaitaia to talk to the children about her role as a Minister of the Crown, and just to check out how everyone was getting on.

"The children engaged with her in a question/answer session about what they did at school and what her life was like in Parliament," principal John Widdup said.

"They were particularly interested in her family and learning about the earthquakes that had happened in Wellington.

"Mrs Bennett was really impressed with the enthusiasm of the children and their openness to engage with her. It was an inspiring occasion for everyone, and a visit that was appreciated by the students and the parents who attended."
