LAST ONE IN'S A ROTTEN EGG: Action from the Far North Zone Swimming Sports Day at the Kaitaia pools on March 18.

An estimated 300 swimmers representing 27 local schools took part in the Far North Zone Swimming Sports Day at the Kaitaia pools on Wednesday, March 18.

The schools which came from as far west as Mitimiti, north as TeHapua, east as Totara North, and south as Mangamuka were divided up into six zones including Kaitaia (K), Central (C), Eastern (E), Western (W), North (N) and NH North Hokianga (NH).

Organisers noted annual event was enjoyed both swimmers and spectators in good conditions, and featured a high calibre of swimming, with a sausage sizzle and other goodies on offer.

The final placegetters for each stroke and year level were as follows.

YEAR 4. Boys, freestyle: Te Wiki Duva (E) 1, Evan Murray (C) 2, Pounamu Matika, backstroke: LJ Togiava (E) 1, Briton Adams (N) 2, E Murray 3, breaststroke: E Murray 1, Joseph Swasbrook (NH) 2, Brad May (N) 3; Girls, freestyle: Anika Wallace (NH) 1, Shekinah Tahitahi (C) 2, Tiaawai Witana (W) 3, backstroke: A Wallace 1, Waitangi Piripi (C) 2, T Witana 3, breaststroke: T Witana 1, A Wallace 2, Atiria Hotere (NH) 3.
