SAUSAGE ROLLS FOR ALL: The Shackleton's Unichem Pharmacy window-dressing team - Karen Brockbank, Shenaye Olsen and Rachel Hickman, with Rachael Foster (left) and Marie Berghan from KBA.

A mixture of Santa, antiques and the odd pair of jandals was a winning formula for Shackleton's Unichem Pharmacy in this year's Christmas window-dressing competition in Kaitaia.

Marie Berghan and Rachael Foster, from the Kaitaia Business Association, arrived at the pharmacy on Thursday to break the news and to make good on the promise of a $100 morning tea shout for the best effort.

Runner-up was Switzer Residential Care, which didn't really have a window to dress so chose the next best thing, a liquid amber tree and surrounds just inside the front gate. It was all done on a shoestring budget, receptionist Bev Crene said, staff painting tins from the kitchen for baubles and one of the husbands making the trees.

Bells in the street front windows, cascading lights and illumination of the tree completed the effect.
