A woman was hit and killed on State Highway 12 near Ohaeawai on Friday.

Police are trying to locate the driver of a car that hit a pedestrian in Northland on Friday.

The 67-year-old woman, died at the scene.

She was hit on State Highway 12 near Ohaeawai at about 11pm.

The driver of the car that hit her failed to stop.

Anyone with information which would help police identify and locate the car or the driver is being asled to call Kaikohe police on 09 405 2960.
