If there had been a prize for eels and barracuda, Neill Bainbridge would have won the Doubtless Bay Rod & Line Club's November contest hands down.
A report from the event noted that although fishing continued to be patchy, some good hauls were bought in to the weigh station in the Cooper's Beach Four Square event with the Fairway Cup won easily Stephen Berridge with a very nice 9.25kg snapper.
Luke McDonald's 7.12kg fish came second while third was a 6.11kg fish weighed in by Phil Barber. Also notable were John Buckley's average of 4.95kg, "a pretty good weight", with Ben Wigley's 1.05kg snapper just sneaking in to win the junior's prize.
The weigh-in was followed by the club's annual prizegiving which saw the aforementioned Luke McDonald win the title as King of Doubtless Bay with the highest points for the year, while Jean Nears was crowned Queen, and Jessica Scott Princess for her great efforts during the year.
The club's next competition is being held on December 5 and 6 and will be combined with the annual Christmas party and 40th anniversary celebrations.
