A large search is under way along a Northland beach for a man who has been missing for three days.

Specialist police search and rescue teams, Coastguard and surf lifeguards are scouring Ahipara Beach for the 62-year-old man who was reported missing on Saturday.

Senior Sergeant Cliff Metcalf said he was last seen in the Shipwreck Bay area.
