A 35-year-old man been charged with attempted murder in relation to an alleged shooting in Kaitaia in February.

The man, who was apprehended by police yesterday afternoon in Karikari Peninsula, also faces several charges relating to the possession of firearms.

He will appear in Kaitaia District Court this morning.
