Cat's out

It is always easier to let a cat out of the bag than put one back in.

Ex-Mayor Brown's on-going feud with the Northland Regional Council and desire for 'one Brown to rule them all' has ended in exposing the Far North to the prospect of one Northland unitary authority headquartered in Whangarei. Enhanced status quo (which could be achieved independently by Far Northerners anyway) looks the best option of the bunch offered by the Local Government Commission.

At least, thankfully, there will be a chance for residents and ratepayers to vote in a binding referendum.
