While there has been some discussion of late in regards to Te Ahu funding, it's appropriate that the following questions be asked.
Cr Monty Knight was appointed as a trustee. According to statements made at the time of his appointment, one of his roles was that of thefundraiser. Cr Knight mooted a number of possible activities, such as a queen carnival, concerts and so on, but no such activities have happened.
Could Cr Knight please supply the readers of The Northland Age a detailed account of how much he has raised for Te Ahu since his appointment as a trustee, along with future dates of any planned fundraising activities?
While individuals may be tasked to show direction, fundraising of any nature will always be a collective responsibility. The trust has actually raised $67,000, by my initiatives, since August 2011.
A number of potential projects have been deferred because of fundraising difficulties in the current economic climate and the need to avoid further unnecessary financial stress on the community.
Fundraising for the further development of the Te Ahu Centre will be on-going as the economy improves and as new projects are identified which will require external support.
