Faith restored
There is a very real and genuine pleasure when a good news story breaks. This was very evident when Evelyn Reilly, right out of the blue, totally unexpectedly received a brand new quad bike, courtesy of Blue Wing Honda and Mid North Honda the other day. It is this sort of spontaneous generosity that fills everybody with that 'feel good' factor that is so vital for families, communities and nations to thrive and prosper.
It is a tragedy that so often this magnanimity of spirit is triggered off by a less than pleasant episode. Burglary, bashings and bestiality all too often precede these all too rare uplifting experiences that restore one's faith in the human race.
The rising crime rate in our youth and young adults is a cause for serious concern, and it comes right back to a parental responsibility to ensure that the trend is reversed before it is too late. As it is election year once again, the time is opportune for everybody to exhort the politicians of all colours to restore to parents the authority we, as an older generation, grew up with and in turn were able to instil in our own children. That is, good behaviour was rewarded and naughty behaviour had consequences - and they often hurt. But we learned.
Thanks go to everybody who was involved with this very popular goodwill gesture to a very appreciative, elderly lady.
