The poor sad Far North

All of my life I have eagerly waited for the 'potential' of this region to blossom, unfortunately in economic terms the word potential is a meaningless gesture.

Wealth is generated by people carrying out a legal activity for an advantage. How simple can this be?

Our early pioneers seemed to understand this idea. It seems to me for the people in the Far North post-pioneering period, we have the following:

-Council and politicians showing no visionary leadership.

-Tribal leaders bickering while their resources dwindle.

The original pioneer generation is dying off while their next generation disappear into Auckland to play finger games. Too many accountants sitting on development boards. These people are reactionary and expert at checking on other people's efforts, and not actually doing anything new.

Pressure groups from all walks of life who are filled with their own self-importance who do nothing but try and prevent the odd bright idea from flourishing. They seem to have endless funds available to stall development through courts.

Where does their money come from? I've checked some of the membership numbers and the sums don't add up. Hence in the meantime while their thumbs are being twiddled, the Far North burns the poor families that are suffering.
