It's the runanga
I refer to your recent article regarding the fate of Mr Selwyn Clarke following his involvement in the protests around Kaitaia airport. I feel for his predicament, and saddened that his right to speak up, stand up and protest against things he disagrees with has resulted in such financial hardship, which could be deemed as punitive action.
Please be aware that while Anahera (Herbert-Graves) and (Professor Margaret) Mutu are the controlling personalities representing Te Runanga-a-Iwi o Ngati Kahu (a Crown-established entity), they are not the CEO or chairperson of Ngati Kahu, the iwi.
There is iwi, a description of the collective hapu distinguished as separate from Ngpuhi, Te Rarawa etc and there is runanga, an organisation.
In your reporting it is only right that you state these people's positions as members of an entity (eg CEO of te Runanga-a-Iwi o Ngati Kahu), and not spokespeople of an entire iwi. There is no such thing.
