Have a heart

This letter goes out to the whanau and friends of the person that stole my car on January 24 at Taipa at 6.15am.

You know who you are and I know who you are. I'm appealing to you to return the items stolen from my car, which mean more to me than you.

One item in particular was my younger brother's Maori-design mink blanket which he passed away in, of motor neurone disease. I would dearly love this back please. It is tapu to you guys, but has sentimental value to me and my whanau.

Also I work with special needs tamariki of Taipa, Cooper's Beach and Mangonui and would appreciate the car seats back, and nappies and wet wipes and the wheelchair parking permit. Not much to you but worth a lot more to me.

There were numerous items in the boot which were gifts for the children as well. You will know what these items are - clothes, shoes, photo frames, linen etc.

You just don't realise what you do to a person when you steal a car. To you it's just fun, and you do it because you can. But you should stop and realise who gets affected, in this case special needs children because I don't have my car now. It was written off as you smashed and trashed it.

I have to rely on other whanau and friends to drive me to and from work with the children.

So please, if you have a heart, return said items, especially my darling brother's blanket and special needs items. You can drop them off at any school or kindy in Taipa or Mangonui and no questions will be asked. Just put my name on it.

Please, please.

DEVERON

Doubtless Bay

PS: Thank you to the Mangonui police for all your help after the theft and on recovery, and to all the whanau and friends helping me now.
