An apathetic lot

I am amazed at the lack of correspondence regarding the GCSB legislation currently before Parliament. What an apathetic lot we are to allow the idiots that we employ to take away our basic rights as citizens.

It seems that John Key can do anything as long as he has that smirky smile on his face.

A gentleman that I know well said that there is not a lot of common sense around these days. A complete lack of it is evident when you look at our parliamentarians.

As for Peter Dunne, he reminds me of that old song about The Vicar of Bray, who did not care who was running the country, because he gave lip service to them and was 'Still the Vicar of Bray, Sir.'

Of course the National Party politicians must believe that they will be insulated from any GCSB attention, but look at the FBI under Hoover. He had the dirt on all of the high flyers in the US. Once the lid is off Pandora's Box it will be very difficult to put it back on.

What a frightening amount of power will go to the CEO of GCSB, especially 20 or 30 years down the track when maybe someone completely devoid of ethics is in charge.

Maybe the next move will be to get the children to dob in their parents for expressing opinions that do not follow the party line (sound familiar?)

What a great country this was 50 years ago, and what a mess it is today thanks to successive governments of both persuasions.

We should be marching on Parliament to voice our displeasure, but for me, and probably many others, it's too far and too cold.
