A privilege

A very impressive service commemorating the centenary of the Anzac force in World War I was held at Te Ahu.

It was conducted by Graeme Baucke and supported by many interesting, articulate speakers, with a heart-rending haka from the Advanced Training boys followed by a moving musical item.

As a visitor to Kaitaia I was privileged to be there, and very inspired by the strong participation of the youth, standing proudly as members of the local community and descendants of the courageous men who shed blood in the war for our freedom.

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old ... Lest we forget.
