Northland claimed golf's Booth Shield youth title for only the second time in the history of the longstanding North Island tournament.
It appears home advantage may have paid off. This year's event held at Whangaroa over Labour Weekend representing the first time Northland had hosted the Shield in its 57-year history.
The end result was based on the best six scores from each team of 10 players, each made up of five boys and five girls, with the best three scores by the boys' and girls respectively - six scores tallied in all - from each round counting towards the final tally over 54 holes.
Northland took out the trophy with a total of 1302 points ahead of runners up Bay of Plenty with 1318 points. Other sides contesting this year's title were Wellington, Poverty Bay and Waikato.
As well, Northland players to claim individual prizes were Taylor Gill (gross winner) and Bradley Foster (nett winner). The tournament was run by Sam Dangen from the Whangaroa Golf Club in association with the NZ Junior Golfing Society.
