While the final tally has yet to be confirmed, organisers of the Carters Kaitaia Charity Boxing Event in Kaitaia on Saturday night are already expecting to better the sums raised at the two previous events to be put towards the multi million dollar Te Hiku Sports Hub development.
Event spokesman Hazely Windleborn said that after the "wash-up," he expected this year's event may well exceed the $17,000 and $18,000 raised from the 2014 and 2015 events respectively. He added the sell-out crowd was treated to a fine standard on the night in terms of hospitality and entertainment.
"They [boxers who took part] are all champions. We were really happy with the quality of boxing," he said.
A well behaved crowd supported it and spent at the bar to aid the cause. He thanked the sponsors for lending their support to what turned out to be another extremely well organised and successful fight-night.
