Mangonui fishing stalwart Bill Dimento weighed in a very respectable 8.40kg snapper, but it was a dad and daughter duo who took out the men's and ladies' sections respectively in the annual Far North ITM Fishing Contest hosted by the Doubtless Bay Line and Rod Fishing Club from May 16-17.
As well as being the biggest fish caught in the competition, where each angler could weigh in two fish, Larry Matthews' 10.8kg snapper and Olivia Matthews' 8.6kg snapper were both personal bests for the anglers.
John Buckley landed a 5.9kg snapper, and for the juniors, Jessica Scott's 2.9kg snapper and Ben Wigley's 1.45kg kahawai won those divisions.
The next contest being hosted by the DBLARFC is the annual challenge against their North Shore Fishing Club counterparts, to be held on May 30 and 31.
The club also reminded that new members were, as always, welcome.
