A trio of Kaitaia gymnasts have achieved some excellent results at elite level while competing in Auckland competition over the past few weeks.
The three represented Kaitaia Gymnastics Club at the Mason Gillespie competition, held at the Tri Star Gymnastics Club in Auckland on July 27, where they found the competition challenging as they were up against some of the best in New Zealand.
Their results were, Step 5 Division 2: Jacinta van der Linden 11th bar, 15th overall; Level 5: Morgan Dolfing 8th parallel bars, 18th overall; Level 5:Andrew van der Linden; 8th high bar, 15th overall.
The trio returned to the Tri Star club on August 9 to compete in the Auckland Manukau Championships and their results were, Level 4: M Dolfing 10th parallel bars, 20th overall; Level 5: A van der Linden; 10th high bar, 11th pommel horse and rings, 12th overall. Jacinta, however, was eventually unable to compete after suffering an injury in the warm up.
The next competition the trio plan to attend - where they will likely feature alongside several of their Kaitaia Gymnastics Club stablemates - is the Northland Championships in Whangarei on August 16.
