Friends of Kaitaia teenager Te Amo-haere Rudolph's family lost no opportunity to fill their icecream containers and buckets with cash at Kaitaia's market on Saturday, and even submitted themselves to Tawhina Shortland-Peat and her clippers.
Sausages were sizzled, raffle tickets were sold, even air plants in kina shells and jars of quince jelly contributing to the more than $700 (and counting) raised for Te Amo-haere and her family as the teenager battles cancer.
It was even more frenetic at Club Physical, on the other side of the carpark, where some very energetic types kept the wheels turning on every exercycle the gym could get its hands on, their cumulative exertions raising close to $3000 for Te Amo-haere and her friend and fellow teenager Georgia Buckingham, who is also undergoing cancer treatment.
More hair, including what might well be the Far North's most recognisable moustache, will hit the floor at Te Ahu today starting at noon.
