Twenty two teams made the most of the glorious summer weather to take part in the annual Makana Confections Pairs tournament contested at Kerikeri on Wednesday, January 25.
The host club players were joined by their counterparts from Waitangi, Cooper's Beach, Kaeo and Kensington competing in the 2x4x2 tournament and a report from the event noted the visiting players' support and competitive play is always appreciated.
"Everyone must have had their game face on as there was only one team with four wins but seven with three, a very close competition as president John Young remarked at prize giving," noted the event report.
Claiming first place were Kerikeri locals Paul Vegar and Becky Papera who reckoned they were very fortunate to win all their games.
Finishing second were Waitangi's Fay and Robbie Norman, while Graeme Gallant and Bill Harris claimed third place.
