HELL FOR LEATHER: Gordon McCauley on his way to winning the Cape2Kaitaia cycle race on Saturday with friend and racing teammate Stuart Holder in close pursuit to secure the runner-up spot. Only 30 seconds eventually separated the first two placegetters [inset], who took just over 2 hours to ride the 114km distance from Cape Reinga to the finish line by Collards Tavern on the Kaitaia town limits.
