The Far North RSA Bowling Club held the RSA Nationals Elimination Triples over the weekend, with the winner set to represent the Far North RSA at the nationals, to be played at Matamata in March next year.
The format was a two-life system, 15 ends or 1hr 45mins no timelimit for the final.
There was a good entry of eight teams starting on Saturday in cold blustery winds and the odd shower - not nice weather at all for bowls.
At the completion of the day's play these three teams remained with one life each: Marty Doak, Russell Hockley, Bruce Panther. Kevin Briscoe, Bill Clode, Chris Topia. Mel Isaac, Selwyn Hargreaves and Rob Paine.
Sunday saw the weather improve and the first game between Briscoe and Doak was a one-sided affair with Doak's team winning convincingly to go through to the final against Isaac and his team.
Doak got away to a good start being up 12-7 after 9 ends, 17-11 after 13 ends and going on to win 21-11.
The club wishes the team well for the nationals and also thank Liz for the catering, Max for preparing the green and Selwyn for running the tournament.
The next tournament for the Far North RSA club is the KPH Construction Mixed Triples on Saturday October 25.
