There were smiles all round at the Kerikeri Croquet Club recently after the faction learnt it had received a generous grant from Oxford Sports Trust which allowed the club to buy new sets of croquet balls to replace its well used ones.
The KCC started the 2014 season with an action-packed day last Thursday (January 9), with club spokesman Richard Sherwood noting there was a great turnout - particularly by locals - considering the number still away on holiday.
It turned out a memorable day and a promising start to the new year, what with the new gear, wonderful sunshine and the players rapt just to be back together and playing again in their stunning red and white kits.
The next all day tournament open to Northland club players being held at Kerikeri is on Friday, February 21. Sherwood promised readers a report of the forthcoming event along with a photo or two and concluded by wishing Age staff and all readers a Happy New Year.
"Thank you for your continuing interest and support of our club activities."
