With one win already under their belts, the Northland Development XI are looking for more of the same form in their 50-over match against Counties Manukau at Maungakaramea Domain tomorrow.
After a solid performance against Hamilton in November, where Northland won by 27 runs, player-coach Dean Williams is highly confident his side can put together a similar performance against the visitors- to help with their bid for the Basil McBurney Trophy.
"We had a really good win against Hamilton at Kaipara Flats and we are a good, strong all-round side ... We have a good top and middle order, and I'm confident we will post a competitive score and then chase down anything Counties post. I'm sure we will do well whether we bat or bowl first," he said.
With the forecast changing every hour, the weather would obviously play a big part in tomorrow's match, Williams added.
Joe O'Sullivan will open the batting alongside skipper Rory Darkins, while batsman Curtis Cherrington and pace bowler Matt Taylor come into the side after stepping up for several matches with the Northland X1.
Kyron Dill was unavailable for this match.
The development side have just three one-day matches left this season including tomorrow's game.
Next Sunday, the team head to Hamilton for two one-day matches against Waikato and Bay of Plenty, after which the winners of the Basil McBurney Trophy will be decided.
Northland Development XI: Joe O'Sullivan, Rory Darkins (c), Todd Beehre, Curtis Cherrington, Josh Matthews, Dean Williams, Matt Taylor, Tom Herman, Aiden Miller, Nic Breslin, Bradley Kneebone, Harry Darkins.
