FLASH HAPI seeks his fourth win at the 12th start of his career at Ruakaka tomorrow.
The 3-year-old, who is classified as a brown gelding, has that lovely short polished coat that usually looks more black than brown.
From the family of Danehill, Flash Hapi is a grandson of the prolific Australian sire Redoute's Choice his sire being the South Island-based Coats Choice.
He has already been in the stake money on seven occasions. His last outing was at Ellerslie in June where he ran home strongly to win on a heavy track.
Flash Hapi was originally purchased by Ruakaka trainers Kenny and Lisa Rae at a South Island sale and later syndicated into a syndicate of which Kenny has retained a share.
When the opportunity arose to purchase the youngster Kenny seized it as he and wife Lisa had owned and trained his brother Faalcon, who was a very successful horse for the stable a few years earlier.
Enter the president of the Whangarei Racing Club John Fairley.
The keen racing man and owner and stalwart of the local club was keen to have a share in the young "Flash" and together with fellow committeeman Grant Adams, David Reid and several others, a racing syndicate was quickly formed.
Tomorrow in Race 4 at 12.30pm, Flash Hapi will jump from barrier 4 with the No1 saddlecloth.
A previous winner at Ruakaka, he will carry the topweight of 58kg and will be ridden by the experienced Mark Sweeney.
Trainers Kenny and Lisa Rae report the horse is very bright, although he missed his last start at Paeroa when the meeting was abandoned due to the weather conditions. This will be his first race since winning at Ellerslie.
Flash Hapi would be a very popular winner tomorrow.
