Whangarei Boys' High will be tested when they play an in-form Onerahi-Central side in the premier grade two-day competition.
Boys' High stamped their mark on the club competition early in the season, taking out the Twenty20 final and booking a berth in the December 19 showdown with Maungakaramea for the 50-over title.
A depleted school boys' side play Onerahi-Central in a two-day match starting tomorrow at Kensington.
Top performers in round one - Henry Cooper, Ben Hyde, Tom Herman, Bradley Kneebone, Jordan Antunovich and Alex Seymour - will miss tomorrow's clash.
They are in Gisborne with Northland at the Northern Districts Under-17 tournament, which started yesterday.
The match is also the last hit out for WBHS before they travel to Napier for the start of their Gillette Cup campaign on Thursday, when the Northland boys will rejoin the side.
Onerahi received a confidence boost last weekend, defeating rivals City with six wickets to spare.
In tomorrow's other matches, Maungakaramea will be looking to improve on their draw with Kaipara Flats last weekend, when they take on City at the Maungakaramea Domain.
When Kaipara hosted Maungakaramea, they restricted the visiting batsmen to low scores with their impressive bowling line-up, with Tauseef Satti, Matthew Taylor and Mark Dellow shining.
Kamo will try their luck against visitors Kaipara Flats, after falling short of the mark WBHS set by an innings and 46 runs.
All games get under way at 10.30am.
