Golf Northland selectors have named their line-up to play in the new North Eastern District Quadrangular next week but with three prominent names missing, it's a squad with a less-than-permanent feel to it.
The new tournament featuring Northland, North Harbour, Waikato and Bay of Plenty will be held on September 15-16 at St Andrews in Hamilton.
Because of the difficulty of finding available dates for the quadrangular - it has clashed with Northland's premier strokeplay event, the Bream Bay Classic, this year - a trio of Northland's top amateurs, Kadin Neho, Sean Masters and Chase Mckeown, have chosen to play in the Classic.
Because they couldn't prevent the clash of dates this year, Golf Northland have willingly given the trio dispensation to play the Classic in an attempt to gain Order of Merit points while playing on a home course.
For this reason, along with some of the other players vying for places in the representative squad being unavailable, some new players have been given a chance at playing in the Northland team.
