A clean sweep by the golden girls was one of the highlights for Northland clubs participating in the Waka Ama 2011 sprint nationals at Lake Karapiro.
Members of the Tai Tokerau Polynesian Canoe Club took all three podium places in the Golden Masters Women's W1 500 on Thursday, with Hilda Halkyard-Harawira winning gold in 3min 7s.
Just over a second behind her were clubmates Kura Heke and Margaret Brown, with Liz Kaiawe in sixth place.
Whangarei's Richard Pehi won silver in the W1 Masters Men while his wife, Ngaire, took gold in the Master's Women W1 500.
Tai Tokerau paddlers had more than their share of success with Nyree King winning the Masters W1 500 title, while Skin Atkins came second in the Golden Masters W1 men's final.
Waimana Riedlinger-Kapa won the intermediate men's W1 500 title, while Sean Herbert won gold in the O23 men's W1 500 in 2min 33s. Also in the medal ceremonies on Saturday were Team Miti from the Mitimitaga o le Pasefika Vaa' Alo club winning the Masters Women's W12 500.
Team Kina from the same club came runners-up in the Open Men's W6 1500, with Herberts On Tour from the Nga Hoe Horo Outrigger Club finishing in fourth.
The Pahihaka Sports Club missed out on the medals, with Team Dozen Get Better closest with a fourth place in the Masters Men W12 500 final.
