It seems Northland is a hotbed for accomplished ocean swimmers.
Added to the wonderful success of various swimmers in the region, Whangarei osteopath Holly Royale placed third overall in the 25-29 year-old division of the 2012 State Ocean Series.
Former Kamo High student Emma Farrier won the 30-35 year-old division. Farrier also runs, and recently placed third in the 33km Costal Challege.
Triple medal haul
Northland 15-year-old Christina Beckmann added to the successful provincial team's medal haul by winning gold in the 50m backstroke with two bronze medals in the 100m and 200m butterfly at the recent New Zealand Division Two Swimming Championships in Dunedin.
Dylan Sims won bronze for his efforts in the 50m backstroke.
